Gibbston Valley™ Resort: Gibbston Valley

On the outskirts of Queenstown, Gibbston Valley™ Resort is located on 1,000 acres, next to the iconic Kawarau river. The resort offers a range of luxury residential and visitor accommodation opportunities as well as many amenities, such as artisan shops, a café and direct access to the world-renowned Gibbston Valley™ Winery. Enviroscope has provided environmental services associated with the earthworks phase of this project. This has included the preparation of the Environmental Management Plan (and Erosion and Sediment Plans) for submission to Otago Regional Council and Queenstown Lakes District Council.

Enviroscope continues to provide environmental advisory services as the nominated ‘SQEP’ throughout the construction phase. We are working closely with the client to enable efficient evolution of this complex development whilst ensuring the inherent environmental risks are appropriately mitigated. Key among these is the protection of the Kawarau River which has a Water Conservation Order over it. This means that the river is recognised for having outstanding amenity and intrinsic values including environmental, recreational, heritage and significance in accordance with tikanga Māori.
